Moonwalk | mother and father features Sabin Aell’s photography in a mixed media approach,
with a dual presentation contrasting positive and negative elements. Mirroring the movement of synergy,
manifestation of creation, and a pureness towards ourselves, the “father series” contains pale flowers emerging
from a dark background whereas the “mother series” takes the same image but removes the dark cloak, causing the flower
to appear as it is receding, reflecting our aspiration to find happiness and beauty. Painted, broken white lines trail
through both bodies of “Moonwalk,” depicting possible motions on both ends that urge the viewer to see more.
Born and educated in Austria, Sabin Aell’s resume includes international exhibits in Berlin, London, Seoul, Adelaide,
Stockholm and Vienna. Her media ranges from photography to mixed media to film.
Objects from the New Frontier explores notions of function in ritual objects and how they define who we are.
Sculptor Phil Mann created these objects from a fictional account that provides the narrative underpinning for his work,
allowing the creation of ritual objects for imagined peoples in an environment free of association with actual cultures or
religious traditions.
